Kimbo Sliced

CBS has been promoting their next Elite XC event for months. All built around the strength of a street fighting, Youtube phenom, Kimbo Slice. After an unimpressive debut in May, Kimbo's next fight was to be against the aging Icon Ken Shamrock. But a small cut took Shamrock out of the fight and a late replacement named Seth Petroselli, with his pink motif, was named a replacement.

Ok enough of all that, I just watched the free show on Cbs and was also watching Spike Tv's showing of the title fight between Rampage and Griffen from earlier in the year. The latter fight of course went to Griffen and sparked Rampage's meltdown. As for the Kimbo's fight....what a complete waste of time. To think Elite XC put all their hope in an inexperienced, one dimesional fighter is alarming. Sign Ortiz immediately, at least he has name recognition and can actually fight in the Octagon. Kimbo's fight lasted less than 30 seconds and he did not win. He lost to a no name last minute replacement. Petroselli faked a kick and caught Kimbo with a punch that knocked him down, after which Petroselli rained some punches and the ref was forced to stop the fight as Kimbo was unable to mount a response.

Kimbo probably should have taken up professional boxing. He is no MMA fighter. He is a knockout artist with no submission skills, no ground game and no Octagon control. This was a bad day for Elite XC, but the silver lining is, they can build around Tito Ortiz and Gina Curano and dump the slice.

Truly a waste of time on a good Saturday.

McGrady's Legacy

This season will be the defining moment of his career. The former 2 time scoring champion, perennial all star and one of the NBA's most marketable players is in a make or break year. It wasn't when he was in Toronto where he was the sidekick to Vince Carter, it wasn't when he signed with Orlando to be Grant Hill's robin and it wasn't when he was traded to Houston to be Yao's wingman. This season the man known as Tmac, has all the pieces he ever needed to break through. No more excuses. Injuries have plagued his career as well as his laid back calm that most people have perceived as not caring. He does care, but he at a point where mentally he believes he will never make it out of the 1st round.

But we can't feel sorry for him. He is being paid about $20 a year to win and he has not won anything with a team. He was paired with the top center in the league and in 3 attempts has not been able to lead a team into the 2nd round and beyond. Now the excuses are all dried up. He has what he needed all along. A wing player besides himself who can create his own shot. Artest is the perfect complement to Tmac. A defender, a bully, a scorer, a dog. As former Rocket's coach Jeff Van Gundy mentioned when talking about the Rockets, they needed some pit bulls.

Artest fits that bill and gives Tmac all the pieces he needs for success. So Tmac, it's on you. If for any reason, injury, etc the Houston Rockets don't make it to the NBA finals or at least to the Western Conference finals, then his legacy will be forever tainted by a career of underachieving.

Biden vs Palin

Mucho blah blah blah. That's the extent of much of my Spanish. The much hyped debate between the two VP nominees was a big bore. Biden talked and talked and talked and threw out stats, while Palin looked hot. I say that because I muted most of what she had to say. Her voice kept ringing in my head as she spoke. Just as I did when "Girlfriends" was on the air, I enjoyed the show on mute.

As for who won, I would call it a draw. Neither swayed me either way and thankfully this is the only VP debate.

A complete waste of time.
